At The Power of Sports, we believe that sport is a powerful tool—not the end goal, but a means to drive social change. Our mission is to tackle deep-rooted issues such as gang culture, criminal activity, drug use, and domestic violence by engaging young people through the structure, discipline, and community that sport provides. We also are committed to increasing female participation in sports, recognizing the importance of creating safe, inclusive environments where girls and young women can thrive.

Our Philosophy and Approach

We work with young people aged 6 to 18 across three key levels:
-
Schools – We partner with schools to deliver sports-based programs that also serve as a platform to promote our own after-school projects. These sessions help us build relationships with students and encourage them to take part in more structured, ongoing activities.
-
After-School Projects – These are community-based programs we run independently. Here, young people receive more intensive support, both athletically and personally. Those who demonstrate strong commitment and talent may be guided toward the next level.
-
Clubs – For those who show potential and dedication, we offer access to local sports clubs. This pathway helps young people continue their development in a more formal and competitive environment.
Across all three layers, we track participation closely and monitor dropout rates to ensure we’re providing consistent support where it’s needed most.
In addition to our youth programs, The Power of Sports helps establish community-led foundations that are deeply rooted in the local context. While these foundations often rely on support from the Netherlands, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, they are designed to stimulate local employment and build sustainable infrastructure from within. By empowering communities to lead their own initiatives, we aim to create long-lasting impact that goes far beyond the sports field.
