The Power of Sports launches sports programmes in La Matanza | Argentina

We are proud and excited to announce that El Poder del Deporte has officially expanded its impact to the neighbourhood of La Matanza, one of the most densely populated and underserved areas on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This new step marks a significant milestone in our mission to make sport accessible to all — especially those who need it most. La Matanza is home to thousands of children and young people who grow up in environments where opportunities are limited and access to structured sports programmes is rare or non-existent. Safe play spaces, quality sports coaching, and positive role models in physical education are often out of reach.

Through this expansion, our ambition is to reach over 7,000 children and youth in the coming years. Our goal is not just to provide physical activity, but to offer structure, confidence, teamwork, discipline, and joy — using sport as a tool for personal growth and social development.

To make this vision a reality, we have invested in a brand new minibus, which enables our team of trained coaches to travel throughout the region. With this vehicle, we can bring high-quality sports sessions directly to schools, after-school programmes, and community clubs in and around La Matanza.

This mobility is absolutely essential. The neighbourhood spans a vast area, with many communities separated by poor infrastructure and limited public transportation. For many of these children, the journey to sports facilities in central Buenos Aires is simply not possible. By bringing sport to them, we eliminate a major barrier and open the door to new possibilities.

This exciting development has been made possible thanks to the generous support of our long-time partners in the Netherlands, the foundation De Kracht van Sport (The Power of Sports). Their donation enabled the purchase of the minibus and directly contributes to the growth and sustainability of this new programme. We are deeply grateful for their continued trust and belief in our shared mission.

As we begin this new chapter, we look forward to building strong, long-lasting relationships within the La Matanza community. Together, we aim to empower a new generation — not only through sport itself, but through everything that sport represents: unity, resilience, respect, and opportunity.
